AR App

Wattbike

No showroom, no problem. We partnered with Wattbike and our 3D animation team to bring the world's leading performance bikes to customers anywhere in the world, letting them explore in detail and enquire directly.

Getting this right meant solving several key challenges, here's how we approached each one.

01

Simplifying the onboarding process

Intuitive onboarding was key to helping users understand how the virtual bike could be dropped and explored. As testing progressed, we found users often weren't considering the physical space around them during this step, so we added an extra prompt to guide their attention there, shown in the third mockup above.

On-screen tips were critical to helping the user ensure they could drop the bike.

The biggest issue we found in testing was the user finding a well-lit area.

Tap points were made as large as possible to make placing the bike very simple.

The biggest challenge was ensuring the right conditions for the virtual bike to be dropped correctly. Poor lighting was a key issue, so we introduced messaging to flag this when it arose. The circles overlaid on the screen also served a practical purpose, representing the physical footprint the bike would occupy, helping users find a suitable space.

02

Bringing the bike to a wider market
without the need for a showroom

Each part of the bike is interactive, giving users the ability to dive deeper into its features.

Easy to switch to different bike models making it scalable to introduce more for the future.

A core purpose of this app was to showcase the bike's features to clients worldwide, without the need for physical showrooms in every location. This was achieved by making the bike fully interactive, tapping on different parts reveals more about each feature.

03

Ensuring 24/7 support

AR apps can be prone to unexpected issues with onboarding or interaction, so we included a permanent link to user guides within the app, ensuring any user frustrations could be quickly resolved.

04

Most importantly it was easy to enquire

Simplicity was key to the enquiry process. We kept form fields to a minimum, while still capturing enough detail for sales to follow up effectively, with a link to the website included for added user validation.

The Results

An increase in sales from areas
normally hard to reach

Within months of launch, the app had thousands of downloads, driving sales in regions that were previously hard to reach. Enquiries from these areas rose sharply, and the insights gathered went on to inform targeted paid campaigns in those markets.
